America’s DTV Transition January 19, 2009

Starting in February all televisions across the United States will only be broadcasting in digital format. People will have to subscribe to satellite or cable or buy a converter box. Right now there is a shortage of converter boxes for people to buy. The people, who would purchase the converter boxes, may not even know how to set them up for the converter boxes to function properly.

I do not think that people should have to buy converter boxes if they are unable to purchase cable or satellite television. There are not even enough converter boxes available for all the people who would need to by a converter box. Not everyone can afford cable or satellite television.

My families have a satellite system and are fortunate to have the latest television technology. I think that the administration should re- think when the digital television movement should go into effect. I do not think it should go into effect in February. As the article “America’s DTV Transition Beset with Problems” said 230,000 households are unready for the conversion.
